STEAM Your Way Through Summer
A three-part series of STEAM activities consisting of Magnetic Slime, Lava Lamps and LED Brooches. Each activity will provide a way to learn about various scientific principles while having loads of fun.
June 14 Magnetic Slime Learn the mechanics of magnetism and magnetic attraction, observe chemical reactions as ingredients are added together and see new characteristics arise to form a new slimy substance.
July 19 Lava Lamps A blast from the past. Create lava lamps using household items like recycled plastic bottles, vegetable oil, food coloring and fizzy tablets allowing participants to observe chemical reactions as ingredients combine and to learn about molecular reactions and liquid density.
August 9 LED Brooches Make a fashion statement by creating a wearable tech accessory. Learn how a simple electric circuit works while using multiple tools and materials to create a brooch that lights up.
