A four-week program that introduces participants to the art of Afghan kite design, building and fighting.
Nothing says welcome to summer like flying a kite. The only thing better, of course, would be taking those kites into battle against other kites!
With designs based in a very long tradition of Afghan kite building, flying and fighting, the classes will progressively teach each participant the skills needed to design, build, fly and fight their own kites. Supplies provided.
Wed, Jun 12: Introduction into the history of Afghan kite flying, and the basics of kit design, flying, and safety.
Wed, Jun 19: Fighter Kite design and construction. This is when we really start to build our kites.
Wed, Jun 26: We will be continuing the work on our kites and getting some basic flight instruction.
Sat, Jun 29: This is the day that we have been waiting for, we fly our kites. (So, are you a big kid looking to learn more about kite building, this is the time to come, no registration required, this will be an outdoor program on this day)
